Atelier

Where all pieces are built, fired and finished

My studio is located in the Cantal region of France, where I produce both sculptural works and collectible design objects. Everything is built by hand using stoneware and porcelain. No molds, no casting, no industrial processes. Each piece grows slowly through pressure, coils and layered construction, leaving intentional traces of the making process on the surface.

I work with high-temperature stoneware for its structural strength and raw texture, and with porcelain for delicate decorations and it sharp detail. All pieces are fired in an electric kiln with controlled schedules suited to my clay bodies and surface treatments.

The atelier is set up for both one-of-a-kind works and small series. I handle all stages in-house: building, drying, glazing, firing, finishing and assembly for lighting or furniture. This allows consistent quality control and makes it possible to develop commissions, custom dimensions and project-specific pieces.

My practice combines traditional ceramic techniques with sculptural thinking. The studio is not a production workshop; it is a place where form, material and gesture determine the final result, whether the piece is purely sculptural or part of the Studio Renate design line.
